About me

Born in Moscow to migrating Composer parents, I grew up surrounded by music and art. I drew copies at the Pushkin Museum learning academic drawing with my Russian teacher as a teenager. I studied Italian and Russian film, literature and history at Ssees and picked up other languages while travelling. Today I have given art lessons part-time to children in London in Russian and Italian.

I developed a lasting passion for painting and sculpture and Historic carving in my studies at London Art colleges. I benefited from studying with Terry Jones, Marcus Cornish, and Antony Gormley. Over the last ten years I travelled around Europe, drawing buildings and classical sculpture in museums.

In 2007 I went to Romania to work at Mircea Roman's sculpture studio and to do an oak carving Symposium in Cucuteni. After graduating I was in Pietrasanta, where I studied the rudiments of marble carving with Brera Professor Pellegrinetti. In 2011 I did an Italian residency, carving a figure of St. Francis, shown in Assisi.

After the Drawing Year I rented studios, exhibiting, painting, sculpting and continued running life drawing workshops. In parallel I attended short courses at the Drawing School, modelling figures and making replica maquettes at the V&A and printmaking and drawing sculpture at the British Museum with Anne Dowker.

There’s also a wonderful prints and drawings room, where they do exhibitions about graphic art

  • Greenwich

You could get the clipper boat to Greenwich for the day, look around the palaces of Greenwich, the Queens House and the Maritime Museum and the painting hall, getting into the beginnings of baroque in England. Up to the Meridian point to see the Meridian. Then there’s a really big market with food stalls and a Cutty Sark ship
